Are you ready to incorporate the “WOW” factor into your new dream home? Whether it’s your dream home or an existing home that needs a design makeover, your first step is to hire an Interior Designer.

Why is it important to hire a professional Interior Designer? Because without the skills or expertise to do interior spaces, you could end up spending way more money than you planned. Mistakes cost money.

Leave it to a skilled and trained designer to bring your design dreams to fruition. Let their expertise open an endless world of possibilities when it comes to space planning, color, art, style and so much more.

So hiring the right Interior Designer is your next step. So how do you go about that? You should absolutely feel that your designer represents you to the best of their knowledge. How? They know how to listen to you as you share your desires and goals.

As an Interior Designer practicing for over twenty years now, I find this to be the absolute most important consideration when deciding on which designer to hire.

Before hiring any designer, I suggest that you go through an interviewing process. Sure it is known that you can interview ten designers and get ten different views and design concepts. But will you be comfortable with all ten designers? Probably not.

Sure there are many personality types, but you must be confident that your designer is on the “same page” as you. Be clear about your intentions, desires and goals you want to achieve to your designer. Notice if you feel comfortable with your designer. Do you feel that they are truly listening to you?

You’ll also want to ask your designer about his or her design background, and projects they have completed. It’s really not about how many years they’ve been in business, but if they are confident and professional in their abilities.

Interior Designers also know a myriad of people in the industry known as vendors that can help with the completion of your project. They say it’s just as important to know who to work with as well as who “not” to work with.
