When you are starting to think of investing on a real estate property, you begin to choose between a single-detached house and a condominium unit. Of course many had always opted for a house. But there are many also who would prefer to start with a condominium unit especially if they still have no children and are just building a family or it they are single working professionals.

People who work in the metropolis usually prefer to invest in condominiums. The congested traffic and the fast pace of life in the city has lured many to establish residence close to their offices. In addition, condos are more affordable than single-detached homes. The increasing population furthermore posted a rising housing problem. For all these reasons, the condos became practical solution.

Most of these types of residences are located in major districts in the city. The convenience and accessibility of these residences are their main attraction. Urban professionals have the proximity of residence to their office as the main reason for choosing condos – either in buying or in renting.

There are different types of condos – the high rise and the mid-rise. They can be of different sizes and different designs. The choice is dependent on the budget. When finding your unit, you should be concerned in determining the location of the building and the location of the unit. Units that are near amenities such as transportation, malls and schools are usually more expensive. But this could be worth the investment because these properties easily appreciate in value.

Next, you should consider the location of your unit. Would you like it to be in the higher or lower floors? Units in the higher floor usually are assessed with higher prices than those in the lower floors. The units in the higher floors are usually endowed with beautiful views than those in the lower floors. Remember that units without nice views usually have lower resale value.

Finally, when choosing your condo unit, you should check on the credibility of the developer. The integrity of the developer also has a bearing on the resale value. Why do we always consider the resale value? Many of us when we start to have a bigger family may no longer want to stay in the condo. The ambiance of a house with garden and outdoor surroundings will provide a better environment to the growing children. Thus, this first home will be sold in exchange for another house. Furthermore, the bigger family will require a bigger space. With condominiums, there is no space for extension.

Now that you are contemplating on investing on your first real estate property, your initial action should be to find your real estate agent. This person can guide you in the right choice – to a condominium that has high resale value.
