There are many reasons to live on the Oregon Coast. Whether you wish to retire or whether you want an amazing quality of life or whether you simply love nature and water, the Oregon Coast is simply the place to be. Here are the top 5 reasons to move to the Oregon Coast:

Nature and Wildlife – The nature and wildlife of the region is nothing short of phenomenal. From the mystical forests to abundant wildlife waysides to many of the most challenging and beautiful hiking and walking trails in the world, nature and wildlife certainly abounds. When speaking of the coast, surely you can’t avoid talking about water. From the grandness of the great Pacific to the myriad of lakes, rivers and creeks, you are never far from water.

Living Costs – The costs of living on the Oregon Coast are surprisingly low when compared to many other popular retirement area of the United States. For example, you can take advantage of the lack of a state sales tax. So, when you buy something at a store for a dollar, the bill really comes to $1!

Atmosphere – There’s dozens of small towns on the coast, so you get a small town atmosphere, but without being too rural. You don’t need to give up shopping and services. Plus big cities like Medford, Eugene and Portland are usually just an hour or so away.

Not Spoiled – The Oregon Coast is quite popular with many tourists in the summer, but the area is far from touristy. There’s quite a few small towns and areas that remain as they have for centuries or simply have not changed much.

Recreation – From the Pacific Ocean to hundreds of lakes and beautiful rivers, the amount of outdoor recreation available is staggering. The central coast, in particular, is home to a large swath of sand dunes next to the ocean, which makes for some fantastic recreational opportunities for young and old and everyone in between.
